How To Migrate From Alpha To Final Version
If you used the Alpha version of SureDash to configure your portal, the way data was stored in the Alpha version must be migrated to the way data is stored in the final version.
We have created a data migrator plugin that needs to be run once, then can be removed from your website.
While we have performed this update on dozens of websites, we strongly urge you to first create a backup and staging site to test the migration before migrating your live website.
Note: For users on the core version of SureDash, here are the 2 files you will need to download:
Step 1: Manually upload the final version to your website; this will overwrite the Alpha version. The download files are in the customer area. You will need to download 3 files: the core version, the premium version you purchased, and the migrator plugin.
Step 2: Run each of the 4 steps of the migration plugin. Click the migrate button and wait for the step to complete, then move on to the next one.
Step 3: Perform each of the follow-up steps. To reset your permalinks, visit Settings > Permalinks > Click save.
Please note:
If the Lesson sub_content shows 0, the Migrate button is disabled, and the status says “Not Done”, don’t worry. This simply means there’s nothing to migrate. You’re good to go and can continue with the setup.
If everything is working as expected in staging, it should be safe to migrate your live portal. Please make sure to have a current backup. During the Alpha process, we advised all users not to launch a portal with SureDash. Our support will not be able to assist you in data migration.
How to Reset Migration Status and Sync Again
Note: If the migration has already been completed once, the migrator plugin will not allow you to run it again by default.
To reset the migration status and run the migration or sync process again, follow these steps:
- Add
&debug=1
to the end of the migration URL.
For example:https://your-site.com/wp-admin/tools.php?page=suredash-migrator&debug=1
- Once the debug mode is enabled, you will see a Reset button.
- Click the Reset button to clear the previous migration status.
- You can now proceed to run the migration or sync process again.
Migrating from the Alpha to the final version of SureDash is a one-time process designed to be smooth and reliable. However, if you ever need to run the migration again, for testing or fixing sync issues, you can easily reset it using the debug option.
If you run into any trouble during migration, feel free to reach out to our support team. We’re here to help! 😊
