How to Translate SureDash into Another Language

By default, SureDash displays all its text in English. If your community uses a different language, you can translate the SureDash interface using a free WordPress plugin called Loco Translate. This guide walks you through the full process.

Before You Start

  • You have Administrator access to your WordPress dashboard.
  • SureDash is installed and activated on your site.
  • Loco Translate is installed and activated. If not, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin, search for “Loco Translate”, install it, and activate it.
  • You know the language code for your target language — for example, hi_IN for Hindi (India), fr_FR for French, or de_DE for German.

Part 1: Create a Translation for SureDash

Step 1: Open Loco Translate and find SureDash

In your WordPress sidebar, click Loco Translate, then click Plugins. Find SureDash in the list and click on it.

Step 2: Start a new language

Click the New Language button. In the window that appears, search for and select your target language.

Under Choose a location to save the file, select Custom. This saves your translation in wp-content/languages/plugins/ — a safe location that will not be overwritten when SureDash updates.

Click Start translating.

Why Custom matters
If you save inside the SureDash plugin folder instead, a plugin update will delete your translation. Always choose the Custom location.

Step 3: Translate the text strings

The translation editor will open. On the left is a list of all the text strings SureDash uses. Click any string to select it — the original English text appears in the Source panel, and you type your translation in the box below.

Tip
You do not have to translate every string. Any string you leave blank will continue to display in English. Use the search bar at the top of the string list to quickly find specific words or phrases.

Step 4: Save your translation

When you are done, click Save at the top of the editor. Loco Translate will generate the translation files your site needs automatically.

Keeping your translation up to date
When SureDash releases an update, new text strings may be added. To bring them into your translation file, go to Loco Translate > Plugins > SureDash and click Sync. Your existing translations will stay intact.

Part 2: Set Your Site Language

Your translation is saved, but WordPress also needs to know which language to use. If your site is already set to the right language, you can skip this part.

Step 5: Change the site language in WordPress Settings

Go to Settings > General in your WordPress dashboard. Find the Site Language dropdown, select your language, and click Save Changes.

Note: Changing the site language affects the language for all admin users, not just the front-end community members. If you want only the SureDash portal to display in another language while keeping the WordPress admin in English, a front-end language switcher plugin can help with this.

Visit your SureDash portal to confirm the translated text is showing correctly.

Troubleshooting

Translations are saved, but the site is still in English
Make sure the Site Language in Settings > General matches the language you translated into. Also, check that you clicked Save in Loco Translate after finishing. If a caching plugin is active on your site, clear the cache and reload.
Some strings are still showing in English
Any string left blank in Loco Translate will stay in English. Go back to Loco Translate > Plugins > SureDash, filter for untranslated strings, and add the missing translations.

You are all set

Your SureDash portal will now display in your chosen language. Remember to run a Sync in Loco Translate after any SureDash update to keep everything translated.
