Managing User Roles in SureDash
SureDash makes it easy to manage who can do what in your community. By assigning roles, you can control user access, permissions, and how much responsibility each person has inside your portal.
User Roles in SureDash
1. New User Capabilities
This setting controls what newly registered users can do inside your community.
- Subscriber – Basic role with minimal access, usually for viewing content.
- SureDash User – Default role for community members. This role is automatically included and cannot be removed.
Note: Every new user will always get the SureDash User role. You can choose to also assign them the Subscriber role depending on your setup.
2. Portal Managers
This setting allows you to select users who will help manage the portal.
- Admin – Users with the Admin role receive important portal notifications and have full access to manage the community, including members, content, and settings.
Portal Managers ensure smooth operations by overseeing user activities, moderating content, and keeping the community organized.
Viewing and Managing User Profiles
Admins and Portal Managers can view user details by navigating to SureDash > Users. From here, you can open an individual profile to see:
- User Information – Username, email, role, and registration date.
- Activity Summary – Number of posts and comments.
- Recent Posts – Displays posts created by the user.
- Recent Comments – Displays their comments across spaces.
- Accessed Resources – Shows resources the user has viewed.
If you need to manage or remove a user’s access, this must be done from WordPress directly:
- Go to WordPress > Users > All Users
- Search for the specific user
- Edit their role or remove their access accordingly
This combination of SureDash and WordPress controls gives you complete flexibility in handling user roles and permissions.
Why User Roles Matter
Assigning the right roles ensures:
- New members start with the right level of access.
- Admins have full control to manage and grow the portal.
- Community stays secure and well-organized.
Conclusion
SureDash uses two main role settings: New User Capabilities (for newly registered members) and Portal Managers (for Admins who manage the portal). Along with this, admins can review user activity under SureDash > Users, while access management and removal are handled from WordPress > Users. This ensures a smooth balance between community engagement and secure role management.
