Media Handling in the Resource Library

The SureDash Resource Library helps you organize and manage your resources efficiently. However, you may notice that when adding resources, the Media Picker inside the Resource Library does not pull media files from your WordPress Media Library.

This behavior is intentional and not a bug. Here’s why:

Why Media Files Are Not Pulled from the WordPress Media Library

The Resource Library has its own dedicated storage folder where all files uploaded through its Media Picker are saved. This approach ensures:

  • Better handling and organization of files within the Resource Library.
  • Improved control over resource files, keeping them separate from your regular WordPress media files.
  • Future-proofing for content protection when SureDash integrates more closely with SureMembers.

Because of this setup, the Media Picker will only display files uploaded directly through the Resource Library. Media files stored in the WordPress Media Library are intentionally excluded so they cannot be selected for Resource Library resources.

Recommended Workflow

When adding a resource:

  • Use the Resource Library Media Picker to upload files directly.
  • Do not upload restricted or private files to the WordPress Media Library, as those remain publicly accessible.

Content Protection with SureMembers

If you restrict a Resource Library Space using SureMembers, the content and files inside that space are automatically restricted as well. Only members with the proper access permissions will be able to view or download the protected resources.

In summary:
The Resource Library uses its own secure storage and intentionally does not display WordPress Media Library files in its Media Picker. This separation ensures better file management, improved security, and future compatibility with content restrictions powered by SureMembers.
